Market size
Global industrial silica market projected to reach US$23.4B by 2030 at a ~5% CAGR. HPQ alone is forecast at US$2.2B by 2030.
Domestic gap
Over 70% of high-purity feedstock is imported from Asia. Reshoring and secure supply chains are driving North American demand.
HPQ pricing
High-purity quartz sells for US$400–1,000 per tonne, versus US$30–80/t for glass sand. Some pegmatite material reaches tens of thousands per tonne.
Critical mineral
Silicon is on the US DOE, EU, and (since 2024) Canadian critical minerals lists. Silica is used in more ways than any material except water and air.
